Trip to Kalasa, Dist Chikmagalur

My first trip of the year, yay!!!. Since the day one in Bangalore I had made my bucket list of places to visit near by and Chikmagalur is one of them. It was not pre planned like my other trips. We just planned it in a week’s time and made the arrangements. The town Kalasa in Chikmagalur district is on a hill top. It was an amazing road trip from Bangalore to Chikmagalur. The roads are quite fine until you reach the ghats. The ghats leads to Kalasa, the stretch is of approx 50 kms, 1 and half hours of adventure comes with sickness. Anyway in Kalasa we stayed at Bynekaadu, homestay and guess what? Our cottage was river facing. Couldn’t have asked for more. The resort is not just surrounded by a beautiful river Bhadra it also has coffee estate and pepper plantation. Chikmagalur is known for it’s tea, coffee and spices like pepper, cinnamon etc.

Day1#

As soon as we reached we finished our breakfast and headed to the river. It was such a great feeling being able to see the river right across your cottage. I guess we were inside the river for more than 2 hours. Soon after lunch we headed to the hill top via open vehicle trekking. I swear it was such a roller coaster ride. Now I know why the road to the hill was so bumpy. On top of that, being on an open vehicle standing was an experience in itself. At one point I thought all my organs must have jumbled up inside. That’s our vehicle and apart from the edge railings there’s absolutely nothing to hold and you’re on your own.

The hill top was an absolute beauty. We started for the hill top post lunch and it took us around 1 hour to reach there. It is such an amazing place. We watched the sunset over there. Words fall short to express the beauty. Look at the view.

The one below is a low resolution picture coz of the sunset right behind me.

Day2#

The next morning soon after the breakfast we headed to the stone architecture and the hanging garden. We also wanted to go to the waterfall as it’s summer in here there was no water. Unfortunately I lost all the pics and videos I had captured on my phone so I don’t have much to share. But the places are really awesome. If you haven’t been to Chikmagalur, it’s a must  and especially to Kalasa. Bynekaadu covers all the trips in its package. So if you’re visiting Kalasa and staying at Bynekaadu book a river side cottage. It’s worth the pay.
